What makes up the ultimate search engine? It has to be one that is fast, accurate and easy to use, for a start. If, in addition to that, it can check stock quotes, look at the latest news headlines, leaf through thousands, no, millions of images and organise your day for you, then we must be getting close. Well. Google can do all of those things and a lot more. It has to qualify for being the ultimate search engine.

Google has more than 40 different products that you can use including patent searches, translation, book searches, discussion groups, e-mail, many products to enhance your Internet marketing including Adsense and Adwords, a blogger and you can even get directions (and they are good) from, say, Logan International Airport to an obscure address in a Midwest town. It’s still a little shaky on South African directions but, well, let the baby grow up.

There is no other search engine on the entire Internet that comes anywhere near this ultimate search engine. Few people actually realise the power of Google – that’s because more than 95% of Google users only use the main search page. Do yourself a favour – next time you use Google (don’t say you never use it!) click on the “more” link at the top of the page, and then on the “even more” link – you’ll be surprised at the number and variety of Internet marketing tools you can find there. Remember that it’s less than ten years ago since Google was first listed in the top 100 search engines on the web. It’s meteoric rise to the top of the tree has, without doubt, made it the ultimate search engine
