I have come across many websites in my day which are filled to the brim with written content, describing in intimate detail prescisely what it is that their company does, giving in-depth background history, even describing the births of the manager’s children. This is highly unnecessary. Too much content placed on a webpage is daunting for the Internet user and drives them away. Website design is about, yes, telling the public about your company, but moreso about doing this through an interesting manner that will grab their attention, and leave them saying “I want to do business with this company”. For me, website design is firstly about the visuals, about implementing fun and appropriate graphics, communicating in a quick and easy manner all that a company is about. Visual communication when it comes to website design is just as, if not more important than verbal communication, as it is a universal language, and more interesting to a world which is no longer fascinated with the art of reading.
